A needs assessment is a necessary part of the initiation or pre-planning phase of a pipeline data management system. By assessing the pipeline data management needs of our client, GeoFields can craft the proper solution that most effectively serves our client’s needs. Organizational support is obtained across all levels when the pipeline data management needs are mapped to the GeoFields solution. The GeoFields needs assessment process has proven successful at numerous oil and gas pipeline companies, and forms an excellent foundation on which to build a phased implementation plan. It also provides management with an excellent status audit of the As-Is picture.
The implementation plan includes all activities related to the deployment of GeoFields solution; scheduling, data capture, data conversion, application integration, installation environment, training, and ongoing maintenance. The plan also addresses hardware, communications, software, and database requirements. The process can be applied to a specific need, such as alignment sheet generation, or to a comprehensive, enterprise data management implementation.
GeoFields maintains a team of Project Managers and Account Managers with extensive GIS and data management and pipeline backgrounds, supplemented with ongoing formal project management training and experience. GeoFields is sensitive to the budgetary and calendar constraints that many clients operate within. GeoFields will work with our clients to develop project plans, schedules, and deliverables that will satisfy the client’s requirements.
Upon the capture and conversion of the client’s data, the applications may be installed at either the client site or the GeoFields Data Center (through a hosting agreement). After implementation and training, a period of acclimatization occurs whereby the client becomes familiar with the application(s) and any post implementation issues are resolved.
GeoFields offers custom training for all of our solutions that make you and your staff efficient users from form the start. Our expert instructors have successfully trained hundreds of users on custom web, desktop, and professional GIS applications. Our training curriculum is based on our understanding of the learning needs of our many clients as well as constant feedback from our clients. If unique learning needs exist, these can be articulated by the client and addressed through the training effort.
GeoFields is sensitive to the support and budgetary needs of our clients. We routinely work with our clients to craft ongoing maintenance agreements that will best serve our client’s needs. GeoFields typically will provide production support to the client following the acclimatization period once the application(s) are in regular use on a operational basis. Production support includes providing how to answers, bug fixes, etc. GeoFields can also provide software updates through a number of mechanisms including: Fixes, Upgrades, Customizations, and Enhancements.
GeoFields solutions also provide our clients with tools for managing configuration change within their organization. By tracking and capturing the change in data over time, our clients establish a living book of changes across the organization’s infrastructure.
